No one ever wants to walk up to their thermostat and see a blank screen. While you may panic at first, it’s good to know that it’s usually a minor problem that’s easily fixed. The following are a few of the most common reasons why you’re seeing a blank thermostat screen in your Gallatin, TN home.
Your Batteries Are Dead
Thermostats that aren’t wired directly into your HVAC system will require batteries for power. If your screen is blank, you may need to change the batteries. Many will warn you before this happens by displaying a low-battery symbol.
If your thermostat is hardwired to your Gallatin, TN HVAC system and you see a blank screen, it could be due to the controller recharging. It should come back on shortly.
A Tripped Circuit Breaker
A power surge can cause your circuit breaker to trip, which results in a blank screen. If this is the problem, you can flip the circuit back on. If this doesn’t work, you may have a more complex HVAC problem that requires professional repairs.
An Open Furnace Door
Many thermostats are very sensitive to issues involving your furnace. If you don’t completely close the furnace door, the thermostat will turn off. Closing the door usually fixes the screen.
An Older Thermostat
Thermostats typically last from 10 to 20 years. If yours is reaching this point and is showing a blank screen, it’s time to replace it. We can install a new thermostat for you to eliminate any further problems.
